Billy Crystal to host Oscars

Now that Brian Grazer is on board as the producer, the Oscars have found their host. Deadline reports that Billy Crystal will host of the Academy Awards for the ninth time. Crystal as host may not be the best way to try to inject youthful energy into the boring telecast, but I say it is a great idea. In these recent turbulent times with Brett Ratner and Eddie Murphy departing the show, Crystal adds a level of comfort.

Here is what Crystal tweeted: “Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show.”

I am happy that Grazer did not go with The Muppets as hosts, that would have made an even bigger joke out of the show. What are your thoughts?
