Universal's ASTEROIDS movie finds a writer in SNOW WHITE scribe

Snow White and the Huntsman's Evan Spiliotopoulos has been hired to pen the screenplay for Universal's Asteroids project. THR reports that the studio won the rights two years ago for the project that is based on the late-'70s Atari video game.

Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) worked on the first draft of the script for the plotline that has evolved into the story of two estranged brothers that must team up to save Earth from an alien race. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) is set to produce the film.

Asteroids was one of the first games aside from Pac-Man that I played as a kid. When this project was first announced I had trouble envisioning how it would be turned into a feature film. Oddly enough, I think the story sounds pretty cool, even if it just basically using Asteroids as a set piece.
