Russell Brand to star and produce THE PRESIDENT STOLE MY GIRLFRIEND

Arthur may not have faired well at the box office, but Russell Brand is set to star and produce a new comedy. THR reports that Brand has teamed with Warner Bros. on The President Stole My Girlfriend, a comedy project penned by writer Matt Portenoy. This is the first project that Brand has set up under his WB-based production banner.

Here is what Brand had to say to THR about the project:

"In this movie, the president steals the girlfriend of a sexy hippie—me, obviously. It was inspired by the night I naively invited [Warners president] Jeff Robinov for dinner."

The project also marks the first major sale for Portenoy. His rewrite on the Porky's remake was well-received, and he wrote a segment for Movie 43, a Peter Farrelly-produced Relativity comedy anthology. Brand will next be seen in Rock of Ages

I am not a huge Brand fan, his comedic schtick is getting a bit old. I may be a bit harsh, but he plays the same character in every film. What are your thoughts?
