Luke Wilson and Kevin Connolly board ELVIS & NIXON

Movie by

The cast of the indie drama Elvis & Nixon is about to gain two actors. THR reports that Luke Wilson is in talks and Kevin Connolly has signed to join the cast of the film that centers around Elvis Presley’s famed meeting with Richard Nixon in 1970. Eric Bana is set to play Elvis and Danny Huston will play Nixon in the directorial debut of actor Cary Elwes. If cast, Wilson will play "Sonny, one of Presley’s “Memphis Mafia” who travels with him to Washington." Connolly is playing "a character named Ronnie, a limo driver."

Here is a bit of background on the story:

The historic meeting was initiated by Presley, who wrote Nixon a six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a "Federal Agent-at-Large" in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. In the script, the music legend drags some of his entourage to Washington and a clash of cultures ensues.

Elwes penned the screenplay with Joey Sagal and Hanala Sagal. The film is being produced by Michael Benaroya (Margin Call) and Holly Wiersma (Bobby), and a January filming date is planned in Louisiana.

I think that Connolly was good in Entourage, and I would like to see him in more film roles. Luke Wilson is hard fro me to imagine as an imposing force, but it sounds like a unique character for him. What are your thoughts on this news?
