RZA Cast in Tarantino's DJANGO UNCHAINED

Director Quentin Tarantino has cast his Kill Bill composer RZA to play a violent Mississippi plantation slave worker by the name of Thaddeus in his upcoming film project Django Unchained. It was also announced that Frozen River star Misty Upham will play a trading post-bar owner named Minnie in the story.

The  spaghetti southern also stars Leonardo DiCaprio,Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Kurt Russell,Don Johnson and maybe, just maybe Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be in the movie as well. I can definitely see Rza playing a hardcore mean badass in this film.

The story follows the character Django (Fox), a freed slave, who, under the protection and care of a German bounty hunter (Waltz) becomes a badass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner (DiCaprio). This film also deals with racism and is handled in a way unlike anything we've ever seen in a film before.

A previous review for the script said that "it’s a 100 percent pure popcorn and revenge flick, it is pure genius in the way it takes on the evil slave owning south. Think of what he did with the Nazis in Inglorious and you’ll get a sense of what he’s doing with slave owners and slave overseers in this one."

Tarantino plans to start shooting the film in New Orleans in January, and the Weinstein Company has set the films release date for Christmas Day 2012.
