Legendary Pictures is going ghost-busting with SPECTRAL

Legendary Pictures has picked up the supernatural action project Spectral from writer Ian Fried. The story focuses on "a modern-day, militaristic and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural."

The project is being described as "a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan." The project is still developing, so locations and details may change.

The project was sold by Fried with the help of a treatment presentation involving a "rip reel," a mash-up of scenes from other movies to help show Legendary what the visual tone would be.
