THE HELP'S Tate Taylor teaming with Melissa McCarthy on TAMMY

The Help director Tate Taylor is teaming up with Mike & Molly's Melissa McCarthy on a new hard-R feature film. Deadline is reporting that New Line is in talks with Taylor to direct Tammy, "a comedy that McCarthy wrote as a vehicle for herself to play a woman who gets laid off from her fast-food job and finds her husband is cheating, and chucks her life to take a road trip of self-discovery with her foul-mouthed diabetic grandmother."

This is not the only project being lined up for McCarthy. Universal is developing ID Theft, a teaming with Jason Bateman, and the actress is set to re-team with Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and Jon Hamm in an untitled comedy. I love McCarthy and am excited to see her in more comedic roles. I have yet to see The Help, but will watch it on DVD.
