WHERE'S WALDO? Movie Gets a Screenwriter

Movie MGM by Joey Paur

Where's Waldo? isn't even popular anymore, is it? So this movie doesn't make that much sense. This seems like a film project that should have been made in the 90's when everyone and their dog was into Where's Waldo. It was around the same time everyone was into that Magic Eye 3D poster art stuff... when will we see that turned into a movie?

MGM snatched up the movie rights to the property earlier last month and today it's being reported that they have hired Todd Berger to write the script for the movie. There's no word on what the story for the film will be about, but the whole gimmick based around the character was for people to try and find him. Waldo wore a red-and-white stripped sweater and carried around a walking stick. Maybe in the movie he will beat people with it.

The project was previously set up at Paramount/Nickelodeon, and if that movie would have went through it would have featured Waldo as a grown man, traveling through various eras after accidentally activating a time machine. Sorry, but that just sounds completely awful. I honestly just don't see how this movie will turn out good.

Berger has written a few Kung Fu Panda shorts, and is best known in Hollywood for writing the puppet crime mystery The Happytime Murders, a Black List script that is currently in development at Lionsgate with Cameron Diaz attached to star.

I'm just as excited about this film as I am about getting kicked in the face by a horse. What are your thoughts on the fact Where's Waldo? is getting his feature film debut?
