After all that talk about Michael Bay not wanting to direct another Transformers movie, and that Transformers: Dark of the Moon would be his last Transformers film, Bay is now in final negotiations to direct Transformers 4. So if Vultures inside sources are correct it looks like Bay will indeed end up directing a fourth Transformers film.
The report says that Paramount Pictures is close to finalizing a deal with the director. As you know he's been developing his lower budget passion film project Pain and Gain. Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg are both in talks to star in the film. If the Transformers deal goes through, Bay will direct Transformers 4 after he's finished with Pain and Gain. Apparently we can expect and announcement next week.
Vulture explained that "Bay has been seeking to adapt the sordid revenge tale almost since its publication in 1999, and that it’s proving the major blandishment in getting Bay to commit to launching a new Transformers cycle. 'Without Pain, there’s no tit for tat,' explains one person familiar with the talks, 'That’s Paramount’s leverage.'"
As for the what the next Transformers story will involve, Vulture says, "the details of the next cyborg saga are being kept secret, but we’re told that it is definitely not a prequel, and that it will delve deeper into Transformers canon to mine older characters and lore. 'Regular people might not care about bringing out a character like Sentinel Prime,' says one of our insiders, referring to the little-known character who played a major part in last summer’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, 'But believe me, fans of the series cared.'"
I honestly thought Bay would stick to his guns with this and not end up making another Transformers movie, but I guess everyone has a price. What are your thought's on Bay returning for a fourth Transformers film? Are you excited that he's going to do another one? Paramount probably would have made another film with or without him anyway. I guess he knows his way around this Transformers movie world better than anyone else.
