David Gordon Green talks SUSPIRIA remake and Natalie Portman's involvement

Here is what he had to say when asked if Black Swan had thrown a wrench into his plans:
"No, that adds to it. That means there’s an audience for prestige in genre, and to me, that’s exciting. We’re really close to getting that movie made if I can get over a couple more budgetary hurdles I think I can pull it off. My version doesn’t really have any similarities to “Black Swan,” but it proves to the marketplace that you can take a great risk and you can have something that has great artistic ambition, but also has incredible commercial appeal."
I watched Suspiria for the first time this year thanks to the recommendation of our own Dr. Venkman, and loved it. Green knows a thing or two about comedy, but I am having trouble imagining him doing justice to this horror classic. Green’s latest film , The Sitter starring Jonah Hill arrives in theaters this Friday. You can read the full interview with Green at Coming Soon.
I am not sold on this remake even being necessary. What are your thoughts on this news. Do you think that Natalie Portman is a good fit for the role?
