Guy Ritchie to direct THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

Guy Ritchie has found his next directing project after Sherlock Holmes. Deadline reprots that Ritchie and his new producing partner Lionel Wigram are set to helm Warner Bros’ The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

This will be first project for Ritchie and Wigram’s new production shingle. U.N.C.L.E. has had some trouble getting started. Steven Soderbergh just dropped out of the project over budget and casting issues. George Clooney was initially set to star in the lead, but back surgery forced him to drop out of the film based on the classic TV show. Scott Z. Burns penned the script for the film that is planned as a directing vehicle for Ritchie.

Sherlock Holmes: Game Of Shadows opens in the UK tonight and in the U.S. on December 16. Soderbergh has since moved on to direct the thriller, The Bitter Pill for Summit. Ritchie has directed a number of great films. I have been a fan since seeing Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Snatch and the Sherlock Homes movies are great too. I think he will do great with this film. What are your thoughts?
