Legendary picks Chadwick Boseman to play Jackie Robinson in 42

Legendary Pictures has found it’s Jackie Robinson. Variety is reporting that Chadwick Boseman is in final negotiations to play Robinson in the biopic 42. The film will be directed by Brian Helgeland based on his script. The film follows the story of Robinson, the first African-American to play in the major leagues. Boseman is a relative newcomer, and has starred in The Express.

I have not seen The Express, but am sure Helgeland would not have cast Boseman if he did not think he could pull of this important role. I am not a huge fan of baseball, but I am a fan of history and I love period films. 42 sounds like a perfect mix of both and one that I am looking forward to seeing.

What are your thoughts?
