Will Olivia Wilde be the next Lara Croft?
It looks like there's a chance that rising star Olivia Wilde could end up playing Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider reboot film being developed over at Paramount Pictures. Wilde most recently appeared in Tron: Legacy, and also can be seen in Jon Favreau's upcoming film Cowboys & Aliens.
A source close to the project expleined that "this would be a far darker and more serious Tomb Raider movie, the idea is to get a top director and an intelligent script and make this an empowering character for women as well as a popular one with men. Olivia is just one of the names being suggested for the lead role. She would appear to be ideal."
I love the idea of a darker and more serious version of Tomb Raider, and I think Olivia Wilde is great. I have absolutely no problems with her taking on the role of Lora Croft. In fact, I'll be a little disappointed now if she doesn't end up getting the part. Wilde is a talented actress that looks fantastic up on the big screen.
Wilde is only one name on a list of several other actresses, but it's enough to get me excited about seeing a new Tomb Raider movie.
What do you all think about Wilde possibly taking on the role of Lara Croft?
