Paramount developing FORGOTTEN for Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee Steinfeld had a breakout performance as Mattie Ross in True Grit from the Coen brothersInstead of losing her to another project or studio, Paramount is planning on keeping her close by and is crafting a new project just for her. The studio has just finalized a deal to buy the screen rights to Forgotten, a novel by Cat Patrick being published in June by Little Brown.

The book is going to be crafted as a vehicle for the 14-year old Steinfeld, with Fake Empire's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage set to produce. This marks the first studio deal for Steinfeld since she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

She will play London Lane, "a 16-year old whose memory is erased at 4:33 every night. The following morning, all she can remember are events from her future. After meeting a new boy at school, London becomes frustrated that she can't seem to find him in her memory of things to come."

I wonder if this will take her out of the running for Hunger Games? This sounds like a pretty cool role and one I'm sure she'll nail.
