Juan Carlos Fresnadillo may not be directing THE CROW remake

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) was rumored to be taking over The Crow remake. Fangoria is reporting that another Spanish filmmaker is actually in line to helm the reboot from Relativity Media.

That other director is F. Javier Gutiérrez and he's “in talks” to direct the project. He previously directed the sci-fi thriller Before The Fall (a.k.a. TRES DÍAS) from IFC.

There have been a slew of directors attached to the new adaptation of J. O’Barr’s comic, including Stephen Norrington (Blade), but progress on the production has been slow. If Gutiérrez takes the helm, it is one of several projects on his slate. He’s already directing House of Horror for James Wan, the first film in the latter’s eight-picture deal with Icon Entertainment, and also has The Greys and Monkey's Paw lined up.

It is still early, so check back for more news on this topic. What are your thoughts on him stepping in to direct this remake?
