Tom Hooper will have a ton of projects to choose from for his next directing gig. He recently was offered Iron Man 3 by Marvel but decided to turn it down. It was a smart move on Hooper's part, because I think that Shane Black is better suited for the job.
Today the LA Times is reporting that Hooper is considering an offer to direct Les Miserables, a new version of the classic novel and successful Broadway musical. The project is being developed by Working Title and is being planned as a big-budget musical. Working Title can handle period films as shown with Atonement.
If Hooper signs on, this would mark his first film since The King's Speech, which wrapped about a year ago. Les Mis would be his third European film, which started with The Damned United. What are your thoughts on this news?
