Nick Fury's Female Sidekick Actress list Revealed
Samuel L. Jackson revealed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon recently that his Nick Fury character would get get a female sidekick type character in Joss Whedon's The Avengers. A couple hours after this news hit the internet a short list of actresses have been revealed that are up for this unknown role.
According to THR Morena Baccarin (V), Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim) are all up for the part. They are still negotiating their test deals for the character who will play a key member of S.H.I.E.L.D. It's been speculated that this might end up being Janet van Dyne a.k.a., the Wasp, but Marvel won't confirm that. All these actresses seem to fit that character description though.
Whoever is cast in the role will be signing a contract with a nine-picture option. There is also a 30-day hold on the actresses.
