DEVIL MAY CRY getting Big Screen Adaptation
It's been a very long time since I've played the video game Devil May Cry, I used to play it all the time but never really imagined it being turned into a live-action feature film. Then again I never thought Stretch Armstrong would be turned into a movie either.
Screen Gems has acquired the feature film rights to to the classic Capcom video game. Of course they are hoping to turn Devil May Cry into a big franchise.
Screenwriter Kyle Ward has been hired to write the script, which revolves around the character of Dante, who avenges his mother's murder by killing off demons.
The game franchise was originally intended as a spinoff of Resident Evil, which Screen Gems also owns the rights to. The game was launched in 2001 that has three sequels since and a fourth one development.
It's hard to get excited about any video game adaptations these days because Hollywood still can't do them right. I honestly don't see a good movie coming from this.
