Director Carl Eric Rinsch has added four new actors to the cast of his upcoming film 47 Ronin, they include Tadanobu Asano (Ichi the Killer), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brother's Bloom), Hiroyuki Sanada (LOST) and Kou Shibasaki (Battle Royale).
The film, which features Keanu Reeves as the lead character, is an epic period film based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenged the death of their master in 18th century Japan. It will be a stylized retelling of this classic story and will mix both fantasy with gritty battle scenes. Think The Lord of the Rings films meets Gladiator.
The movie was written by Chris Morgan (Wanted), and I have a feeling it's going to be pretty awesome. Rinsch is a commercial director who was originally attached to direct the Alien prequel, but this will be his first feature film. Here's a collection of the commercials Rinsch has directed.
