John Lasseter Explains why he made CARS 2

One of the big questions on my mind regarding Pixar's Cars 2 is... why did they move forward with a sequel to one of the animation studios worst films? I just assumed it was all about the merchandise, and all of the millions of dollars Disney made of the consumer products. John Lasseter explains in the video below how he came up with this Cars 2 movie idea and why they made it. It all comes down to Lasseter being very excited about it, but I'm still not sold it.
