SANDMAN TV Series No Longer in the Works

TV Neil Gaiman by Joey Paur

Supernatural TV show creator Eric Kripke was the man attached to bring Neil Gaiman's highly acclaimed comic book series The Sandman to the small screen for Warner Bros. TV. When the project was first announced I didn't think there was anyway in hell that they would be able to do the comic justice in the adaptation. Like so many of the fans, I hoped it would fall apart... well, it did.

In a recently interview Kripke said that the project was pretty much dead.

Unfortunately, for a lot of varying reasons, Sandman is not in the works, at least for this season.

It doesn't sound like it will happen anytime soon, if ever. I'm sure it will eventually get it's adaptation, hopefully when it does it has a good team behind that knows what they're doing.

Sandman launched DC Comic's Vertigo imprint, which ran for 75 issues beginning in 1989. Gaiman's worlds-within-worlds weaved an episodic antholgy, focusing on Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreaming, a deity who personifies dreams. The book began in the horror realm but quickly made its mark in fantasy and mythology as Gaiman introduced the Endless, a group of powerful brothers and sisters named Destiny, Death, Destruction, Despair, Desire and Delirium (as well as Dream).

What do you all think? Do you hope to one day see it happen, or would you rather it never get adapted?
