UPDATE 3/16/11: I just received an e-mail from Stiller's publicist denying this story. I'll quote her e-mail here: "The reports on the web about him filming Zoolander 2 are inaccurate. He’s in rehearsals on Broadway currently in “The House of Blue Leaves” which finishes in July." So there's no truth to this story as of yet, but based on the interest of everyone involved, let's hope this project actually sees the light of day sometime soon. I'd love to see more of Derek, Hansel, and - of course - more Blue Steel. Original article follows.
Fans will not have to wait long to see Ben Stiller walking the catwalk and doing his iconic 'Blue Steel' pose. It was announced today that Zoolander 2 is currently filming. Here is what Stiller had to say to Closer magazine about the production.
"We're filming the Zoolander sequel at the moment. Derek's going to be back bigger and better than before - no catwalk is safe!"
Owen Wilson returns to play Zoolander's nemesis, Hansel. Stiller went on to say.
"It's ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don't want to give away too much, but it's basically Derek and Hansel ten years later."
As of right now, there is no word if Will Ferrell will reprise his role, but that would be awesome. What are your thoughts on this news?
