Betty Thomas may direct DESPERADOS starring Isla Fisher

Movie Isla Fisher by

Betty Thomas is close to finalizing a dealt with Universal Pictures to direct their upcoming comedy Desperados, a starring vehicle for Isla Fisher. The project had viral video director Wayne McClammy on board, but he dropped out after having creative differences according to THR.

Desperados is written by Ellen Rapoport and has been described as a female version of The Hangover. It follows the story of "a woman who sends an indignant email to her new beau, who has gone silent after they have sex, only to discover he's comatose in a Mexican hospital. Panicking, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the email before he recovers."

Thomas got her start as an actor and then moved on to directing such films as Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, I Spy, Dr. Doolittle, Private Parts and The Brady Bunch Movie. This sounds like her coolest film to date.
