Shia LaBeouf in the Running to Play Jason Bourne

Universal Pictures wants to make a new Bourne film, but as previously reported, it will be a prequel that won't feature Matt Damon or be directed by Paul Greengrass. According to an insider, Shia LaBeouf is up for the role of Jason Bourne.

Now LaBeouf is just one of several other young actors that the studio is looking at casting. I used to enjoy watching LaBeouf up on the big screen, but over the last few years, he's just been annoying. On top of that, I don't see him being a badass. I honestly have no desire to see him take over the role of Jason Bourne, so I hope it doesn't play out that way.

The film is being developed by writer/director Tony Gilroy, and here are the other actors he is looking at to possibly take over the role: Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, Kellan Lutz, Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer, and Benjamin Walker.

What do you think about it, and who do you think should replace Matt Damon?
