Evan Rachel Wood Nervous About Full-Frontal Nude Scene in “Mildred Pierce;” Credits Kate Winslet for Giving Her the Courage to Follow Through
In a recent interview with xfinityTV.com, Evan Rachel Wood exclusively admitted to being extremely nervous about her full frontal nude scene in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce”and almost backing out of the big deed.
“I was a lot more nervous than I thought I was going to be,” Wood told xfinityTV.com’s Julie Zied.
Wood worked for months with piano and dialect coaches to prepare for her role opposite Kate Winslet, but nothing could prepare her for her big nude scene. In fact, it’s Winslet who Wood credits for giving her the courage to actually strip down.
I looked at Kate and she was like, ‘You’ve got to do it. Trust me, it’s so brave. Put a merkin on and you’ll be fine.’” For those who don’t know what a merkin is… “Let’s just say, I had to wear a wig because it was in the 30s, and everything had to look like it was in the 30s,” Wood told xfinityTV.com with a laugh. “Kate helped me,” she continued. “She gave me strength. She kind of dared me. I also felt I had to prove it to myself. I had to do it at least once — get it all on film now so when I’m eighty I can look back at it and say, ‘Yeah! I did that!’
Be sure to check out Wood’s big scene during the fifth and final installment of “Mildred Pierce” on HBO.
