Casting on Gary Ross' The Hunger Games is moving ahead at full speed now that Jennifer Lawrence is locked in to star as Katniss Everdeen. Lionsgate began testing the two male leads, Everdeen's love interest Peeta and Gale (the third point of a possible love triangle).

Hunger Games is "set in a future America which is divided into 12 poor districts that serve a wealthy Capitol territory. Once a year, each district submits a girl and boy as tributes to participate in life-or-death games. Sixteen-year old Katniss is the girl who volunteers to take the place of her sister; Peeta is a boy from Katniss' town also selected for the games who, during the opening ceremony, reveals his unrequited love for her. Katniss spends the rest of the story unsure whether the move was a survival ploy or a true act. The Gale character teaches Katniss the way of the hunter and plays a bigger role in the subsequent trilogy."

Here are the actors currently testing for the role of Peeta:

Josh Hutcherson: 18-year old actor that has starred with Brendan Fraser in Journey to the Center of the Earthand and it's sequel later this year. He appeared recently in The Kids Are All Right.

Alexander Ludwig: 19-year old Canadian actor who starred in film's like 2007's The Seeker: The Dark is Risingand most recently in 2009's Escape to Witch Mountain.

Hunter Parish: 23-year old actor that starred in Broadway's Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening and is best known as one of the stars of Showtime's Weeds.

Lukas Till: 20-year old actor that can currently be seen in Battle: Los Angelesand plays Havok in May'sX-Men: First Class.

Evan Peters: 24-year played one of Aaron Johnson's best friends in Kick-Ass. He has a recurring role on One Tree Hilland number of other TV roles including parts on The Office, The Mentalist andParenthood.

Liam Hemsworth, starred opposite Miley Cyrus in The Last Song. Hemsworth isthe younger brother of Chris Hemsworth.

David Henrie: Star best known from Wizards of Waverly Place, has a regular role on How I Met Your Mother, and is set to star in the CBS pilot for The Assistants.

Robbie Amell:One of the stars of Nickelodeon'sTrue Jackson, VPwho starred as Fred in the recent straight-to-DVDScooby Doo! movies.

Drew Roy: Star of such Disney Channel and ABC Family shows as, Hannah Montana, Greek. He is one of the stars of TNT's high-profile sci-fi series Falling Skies.
