Alec Baldwin joins ROCK OF AGES

Alec Baldwin has been cast in the feature adaptation of Rock of Ages. The announcement comes via Tweet from director Adam Shankman on Friday: " Based on info I got today, I'm gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock Of Ages. Hollah."

Shankman added the following in a seperate Tweet, "Can't wait to start #rockofagesmovie. Julianne Hough, alec Baldwin, Mary j Blige, Tom cruise confirmed. I love my cast. More to come."

Baldwin takes on the role of Dennis Dupree --  "an ex-rocker hanging onto his glory days while he runs the Rock of Ages nightclub." Will Ferrell and Steve Carell both passed on the role.

Earlier we reported that Dancing With the Stars pro Julianne Hough joined the film this past week as Sherrie, "a small-town girl who comes to Hollywood to become a part of the 80s rock scene but takes a detour as a stripper."

Shankman will begin filming shortly based on a script by Chris D'Arienzo. Growing up in the 80's, I am happy to see this film because there is going to be tons of hair band music. It will be interesting to see Tom Cruise sing, but he is awesome so I am sure he'll do a great job.
