Universal developing DOOM reboot in 3D

News has just come in that Universal is planning a reboot of the Doom franchise. This frankly just pisses me off. It seems as though new and creative pieces of work (At The Mountain's of Madness) fail to get picked up while remakes/reboots are all the rage.

What's Playing reports that the studio plans to do "a reboot - one that entirely skips over the events of the insipid 2005 film - is in the early stages of development."

Universal has been interested in doing a remake for awhile, but the success of Paramount’s G.I Joe : Rise of Cobra made them even more interested!? I am not as big of a hater on the original G.I. Joe film, but this really just annoys the hell out of me.  What are your thougths on this news?
