Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves sought for ROBOCOP lead

Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves are being sought by MGM to take on the lead role of Robocop, according to Clint at MovieHole. The report goes on to say that if the actors haven't been approached yet, it's only a matter of time before they will be. MGM has hired Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) and screenwriter Josh Zetumer to develop the reboot. There are no plot details at this moment as you can expect. It will be interesting to see what different take the the film will have.

The original film told the story of a cop who was blown to pieces by a blood thirsty mob. His brain was saved and was turned into a powerful badass cyborg cop. Of course the suppressed memories of his past life come back to haunt him. Robocop was originally played by Peter Weller. In most of the scenes Weller had a mask covering his face. I wonder if Cruise, Reeves or Depp are interested in having a shield covering their most valuable features? This film is a huged priority to MGM, so it would not surprise me to see them get a big name.

What are your thouhts on the possibility of these actors playing the lead in Robocop?
