More Details on the New CONAN Film Revealed Through the tie-in Comic

I still have yet to see anything impressive from this upcoming new Conan the Barbarian movie. We've seen a ton of images and a really crappy teaser trailer, but we have yet to have any real idea on what the story is going to be about. We had this basic plot summary,

A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

But what is it that starts this quest, what are the details? Thanks to Dark Horse Comics we now have a few more details on the films story thanks to a tie in comic book for the movie they are developing.

After witnessing his wife burned at the stake, warlord Khalar Zym sets out on a quest to find the mythical Mask of Acheron, an ancient artifact that will bring his beloved back to life. In his search across the lands, Zym destroys a village in northern Cimmeria, where a boy born of battle survives and is cast out into the world, alone.

Years later, Zym crosses paths again with the boy who survived – Conan. He must now contend with this barbarian nuisance who is now set on vengeance for the slaughter of his village. Zym and his daughter, Marique, eventually clash with Conan in an epic final battle, the outcome of which will decide the fate of the world.

Based on Conan the Barbarian, the new major motion picture starring Jason Momoa, Rose McGowan, and Ron Perlman.

Yeah, it sounds like a Conan film. What do you all think? Are you looking forward to this film? Do you think Jason Mamoa will make for a good Conan? Becasue I don't. He recently admitted that he's never even watched the original Conan films. Oh well, I guess we'll see how this all turns out. Who knows, maybe it will turn out better than what I expect.
