Kate Beckinsale offered TOTAL RECALL lead

Kate Beckinsale is set to star opposite Colin Farrell in the remake of Total Recall for Sony Pictures. She will play Lori (originally played by Sharon Stone) one of the lead roles. The other part up for grabs is the role of Melina (originally played by Rachel Ticotin) in Paul Verhoeven's 1990 version. A number of actresses have been in contention for the leads. Jessic Biel was up for an uknown lead role (possibly the one Beckinsale just got). Eva Mendes and Rosario Dawson are the serious contenders for the to play Melina. Beckinsale is no stranger to the film's director, Len Wiseman. Not only are they married, but they worked together on the Underworld films. She is also attached to star in The Trials of Kate McCullough, to be directed by Karen Moncrieff, and is currently shooting Underworld 4: New Dawn.

It will be interesting to see if she accepts the offer. Wiseman has a vision for the film and I am sure he has a sense of his wife's ability. I think she is a good actress and am excited to see who is cast in the Melina role. I think that Dawson would be a great addition to the cast.
