Johnny Simmons cast in 21 JUMP STREET and two other roles
Johnny Simmons must be a happy after being cast in three roles. He has joined the cast of 21 Jump Street, Summit's Perks of Being a Wallflower and indie The Hand Job. Simmons will also shoot the film's in that order with Hand Job being the last to shoot later this year.
21 Jump Street is based on the Fox TV show and is being written and directed by Paul Lord and Chris Miller. The film stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as undercover cops working in high schools and colleges. The late Stephen J. Cannell, the TV shows creator, was working on the reboot before his death in September, and is credited as a producer. The cast also includes Ice Cube, Brie Larson, Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Dave Franco, Jake Johnson, as well as a cameo by Johnny Depp.
Emma Watson and Logan Lerman star in Perks of Being a Wallflower and is directed by Steve Chbosky directing. Maggie Carey is directing The Hand Job, which stars Bill Hader, Andy Samberg and Aubrey Plaza. Simmons is currently in Robert Redford's The Conspirator and can be seen in HBO's Cinema Verite. He also starred in Jennifer's Body and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
It is doubtful that Simmons has any scenes with Depp, but it's still cool that he is in the film with a cast that is getting better. I really have not given the film a fair shake because of my dislike of Tatum, but that's going to change. The other films sound like fun. I liked him in Jennifer's Body (the pic used above).
