Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis to star in STILL I RISE

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis are set to take the lead in the drama Still I Rise. The film from Walden Media begins filming on May 23 in Pittsburgh. Daniel Barnz (Beastly) re-wrote the script and is directing from a screenplay originally written by Brin Hill. The story is inspired by true events and follows "two mothers who channel frustration into action and join forces to transform an inner-city public school." 

The film is being produced by Mark Johnson under his Gran Via Productions banner, with 20th Century Fox set to distribute domestically. Gyllenhaal just wrapped filming on Hysteria directed by Tanya Wexler. Davis just finished DreamWorks adaptation of the Kathryn Stockett novel The Help and is currently filming Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close directed by Stephen Daldry.

I liked Gyllenhaal in Sherrybaby and Stranger than Fiction. Davis was great in her powerful performance in Doubt. This sounds like the perfect film for them. What are your thoughts on this news?
