Ashton Kutcher is set to replace Charlie Sheen in CBS's Two and a Half Men. THR reports that sources close to the deal that Kutcher is finalizing a deal to join TV's number 1 comedy. No comment has been released from CBS, studio Warner Bros. or the actors representatives. The exact salary is not known, but a source says Kutcher is getting a “huge payday” to join the series.

Hugh Grant was offered the role, but passed on the role. It's reported that the shows creaor, Chuck Lorre has written a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that satisfies the network and studio. A source claims that, “It’s really funny. People are going to love it.”

It was first reported Thursday that the actor had been named as a possible replacement for Sheen. Kutcher recently appeared in No Strings Attached. This would mark his first series since his breakout role on Fox’s That 70’s Show. He served as the host and excec. producer on MTV Punk’d, and other programs. CBS was also attracted to Kutcher because of his young fan-base and his online profile (he has  6.7 m Twitter followers), which could help the network promote the show.
I like Kutcher on the big screen, but sometimes think he's better suited for the small screen. It will be interesting ot see how Lorre crafts the story to fit Kutcher in. What do you think of this casting news? Do you think that Kutcher would make a good addition to the series?
