Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) has signed on to star in a new supernatural thriller from director Eric Howell called Voice From the Stone. The film is based on an Italian novel called Le Voce Della Pietra written by Silvio Raffo.
According to Variety the story "sees Gyllenhaal play the role of a nurse drawn to the aid of a young boy who is haunted by malevolent forces within the walls of an old house in the Italian countryside. As she develops a relationship with the father of the boy, she also becomes haunted by the same evil presence and must fight to save herself and the boy."
I'm happy that we are seeing more creepy ghost stories getting the movie treatment. For example, Insidious was a great horror film. I fyou haven't seen it yet, you're missing out. It's nice that the slasher blood splatter films have taken a back seat. The real fear comes from the horror movies that lingers with you and follows you home after you leave the theater.
I'll be keeping an eye out on this movie, and following it's development so stay tuned for more.
