THOR sequel could arrive in 2013, villains being considered

Kenneth Branagh's Thor has been at the top of the box office in the U.S. for two weeks, making a total of $225 million overall. According to Cinemablend, a sequel is in the early stages of development with a film possibly arriving in theaters in 2013. Marvel typically releases big blockbuster films like this during the summer, as they are doing with Iron Man 3, which is planned for May 3, 2013. One could easily speculate that a Thor sequel may not be too far behind.

The source also revelaed that the Enchantress (aka Amora) and the Executioner (aka Skurge) are being considered for the sequel. As you know from the comics, the Enchantress is a beautiful citizen of Asgard, and a powerful sorceress who has been romantically linked to Thor. The Executioner is a citizen of Asgard and brute warrior whose deep love for Amora keeps him at her whim.

Chris Hemsworth's contract has him locked in to reprise his role in a Thor sequel and the upcoming Avengers from director Joss Whedon. The Avengers is set for release on May 4, 2012. Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman have signed on for The Avengers, Portman has not signed on for a Thor sequel yet, but that may happen in the future.

I think Thor was one of the best Marvel superhero films to date and I am looking forward to more outside of The Avengers. It only makes sense to have Portman back. She had such great chemistry with Hemsworth, it would be bad if they can not make that deal come together.
