Darren Aronofsky Could End up Directing MALEFICENT or MOSES

Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky was most recently attached to The Wolverine, but dropped out due to the amount of time he would have to spend away from his family to do it. That left him wide open to take on other projects. 

According to Badass Digest, Disney wants to hire him to direct their Sleeping Beauty inspired film Maleficent which Tim Burton just pulled out of. The movie will star Angelina Jolie as the the evil villain. The film tells the Sleeping Beauty story from the point of view of the villain. Maleficent is definitely one of the most evil villains from Disney. I imagine the film will explore her deep hatred for the people of the Kingdom in which Princess Aurora lived, and what caused that hatred, and made her want to kill the princess. 

Warner Bros. is also trying to attach him to an upcoming Moses project they are developing. This film is being produced by Sherlock Holmes producer Dan Lin, and it will be a large scale retelling of the story of the Israelites’ departure from Egypt, when Moses led them into the desert.

It sucks that Aronofsky won't be directing The Wolverine, but if I had to chose between these two films for him to direct, I'd go with Maleficent. It's not a film I envision him making, and that's why it might be awesome. I would love to see what he would do with that story.
