First photos of Jack Black in Richard Linklater's BERNIE

Here are the first photos of Jack Black in Richard Linklater's Bernie, which is set to premiere at the LA Film Fest this year. The film new has Black playing a small-town mortician who befriends an old woman played by Shirley MacLaine.  Linklater has reportedly called the film his own Fargo, which is a bold statment. I love Linklater, so I am hoping that the his teaming with Black turns out to be great.

Linklater started writing the script a decade ago. The film was inspired by this Texas Monthly article. The cast also includes Matthew McConaughey and Rip Torn. Here is what Linklater had to say about project:

[And it's] set in a little town of Huntsville, East Texas, kind of a little black comedy. It’s my ‘Fargo’ in East Texas, where I group up, so it’s crazy local with fifty characters. It’s about a funeral home assistant who befriends this old lady. It’s kind of a true crime story.

This movie has got to be better than Gulliver's Travels. I am interested in seeing this film, how about you?
