Neil Blomkamp's ELSYIUM arriving a week earlier on March 1, 2013

No you did not sleep through a year and wake up, even though that would make a cool film. Studios make plans years in advance when it comes to release dates. Sony annoucned today that Neil Blomkamp's (District 9) next film, Elsyium, is set for release a week earlier. It was initially slated to open on March 8th and now it will open on March 1st. It will have some competition, Disney announced that it's releasing Sam Raimi's Oz: the Great and Powerful on that date as well.

Elsyium stars Sharlto Copley, Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Wagner Moura, The story is set in the far future on another planet and is filled with many sociopolitical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film. I am very excited for both of these films and plan on seeing both that weekend. It will be interesting to see if one of these films decides to change it's release date.
