Watchmen star Malin Akerman has officially been cast in the upcoming rock musical Rock of Ages. She will be taking on the role of Constance, a hard-nosed reporter who attempts to interview rock star Stacee Jaxx, played by Tom Cruise, but he ends up seducing her. Both Anne Hathaway and Amy Adams were up for the role but neither one of them worked out due to scheduling issues.
Akerman is a fun actress to watch up on the big screen, and she will make a great addition to the cast which also includes Diego Gonzalez Boneta, Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti, Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The film tells the story "of a small-town girl who comes to Hollywood for the 1980s music scene and is nearly destroyed by it. Although she falls for a budding musician named Drew, she also catches the eye of Stacee Jaxx, an arrogant rocker at the height of his career, ends up as a stripper in a club run by Blige but also finds true love at the end."
What are your thoughts and Akerman joining this movie?
