Brett Ratner directing live-action adaptation of THE 39 CLUES

Brett Ratner is set to direct the live-action adaptation of The 39 Clues for DreamWorks. The film is based on Scholastic Media's book series, online game and card collection. Jeff Nathanson wroth the script for the film. He worked with Ratner on Rush Hour 2 and 3 and most recently Tower Heist. The series follows the "the most powerful family in the world, the Cahills, and the books give clues as to the secret of the clan's power."

The young-adult series recently had it's 11th installment published. The project first got started in 2008, when Stacey Snider and Steven Spielberg had the project staged as a directing vehicle for Spielberg. (Spielberg has since focused on War HorseandLincoln, starring Daniel Day-Lewis). Spielberg is producing the project with Scholastic Media's Deborah Forte and Nathanson

Here is the plot introduction from Wikipedia:

Many of the well-known names in history are said to be part of the real life Cahill family, making it "the most powerful family in the world." They now currently live in Austin, TX in a glorius mansion called The Cahill Ranch. Names such as Marie Curie, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Napoleon Bonaparte were all in one of the four family branches. The branches are: the power-hungry Lucians, the strong and sporty Tomases, the inventive Ekatrinas, and the creative Januses. Dan and Amy are also warned to "beware the Madrigals," but what the Madrigals are is not revealed in this novel. While most of the characters in the book know which branch they belong to, the main characters do not.

While I wish that Spielberg was still directing, I am excited to see his upcomign films when they arrive in theaters. Ratner is better suited to direct this type of film in my opinion. What are your thoughts?
