F. Gary Gray Will Direct THE LAST DAYS OF AMERICAN CRIME

Director F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job) has lined up his newest project: a film called The Last Days of American Crime.
Based on a comic series by Rick Remender (a writer and artist you may be familiar with, thanks to his work on Marvel's Punisher series), it's a futuristic story set when America responds to a terrorist attack by implementing a device that removes the ability for people to willingly commit crimes. Sam Worthington (Avatar) will play Graham Brick, a criminal looking to pull off one last job before the technology is put into place.
F. Gary Gray most recently stepped behind the camera for Law Abiding Citizen, and though he doesn't always hit home runs, it's clear he's a talented filmmaker. I'm hoping the futuristic aspect of this story will challenge him in all the right ways. It sounds like there are some shades of Minority Report in The Last Days of American Crime, so checking out Spielberg's fantastic film as inspiration can't hurt.
What do you think? Are you interested in this story? Do you think F. Gary Gray and Sam Worthington can bring it to the screen successfully? Sound off in the comments section.
