Focus Features nabs Steve Carell's SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD

Movie by

Focus Features has picked up to the U.S. distribution rights Seeking A Friend for the End of the World directed by Lorene Scafaria and starring Steve Carell (his first film since leaving The Office). Keira Knightley also stars in the film that is slated to begin filming this month in L.A. The story tells the story of the end of the world and a man that heads cross country to reunite with his school age girlfriend for their final days. A friend (Knightley) accompanies him on the road trip and complicates things. The script was written by Scafaria who is also producing the film with Anonymous Content's Steve Golin and Joy Gorman along with Indian Paintbrush's Steven Rales and Mark Roybal.

I like seeing Carell in roles that are not typical comedic fare. This sounds like a decent story and it will be interesting to see him opposite Knightley. What are your thoughts on this news?
