Andrea Riseborough (Made in Dagenham) has been cast in the lead role opposite James McAvoy in Eran Creevy's British crime thriller Welcome to the Punch. The film co-stars Mark Strong (Green Lantern, John Carter) as "a criminal who forms an unlikely union with a detective (McAvoy) as they uncover a conspiracy."
Welcome to the Punch is being produced by Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh, with Ridley Scott and Liza Marshall serving as executive producers for Scott Free. The film is being financed by and executive produced by Worldview Entertainment. Production is set to begin on July 18 in London.
Riseborough was last seen in Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go. and stars next in Madonna's W.E. and Brighton Rock for IFC. She is also in negotiations to co-star in Joe Wright's upcoming adaptation of Anna Karenina. I liked her in Never Let Me Go and have heard mixed reviews of Made in Dagenham. This sounds like a really cool film with tons of British talent.
