Cinemax's TRANSPORTER series gets director and new cast members

TV Luc Besson by

Stephen Williams has hired to direct the pilot episode of Cinemax’s Transporter, THR reportsIt is also reported that the show has gaines three new cast members. Williams was a co-exec producer on Lost and recently served as co-exec producer on Undercovers, and directed two episodes for the show created by J.J. Abrams.

The series is based on Luc Besson's Transpoter franchise. Chris Vance will play Frank Martin, played by Jason Statham in the films, a professional transporter. Andrea Osvart co-stars as a former CIA operative and Frank’s handler.

Joining the cast are Francois Berleand (Tell No One), who will reprise his role as Inspector Tarconi from the films; Delphine Chaneac (Splice), will have a recurring role as Olivia, "a reporter who knows a lot about Frank’s work"; and Rachel Skarsten (Birds of Prey), who has been cast as Delia, "the daughter of someone from Frank’s past."

I really enjoyed the film versions. It is good to know that Besson is involved in the series, but unfortanate and understandable that Statham is not going to star. What are your thoughts on this news?
