This is our first official look at John Cusack in the upcoming Edgar Allen Poe film The Raven. The film is being directed by James McTeigue, and is a fictionalized story of the last five mysterious days of Edgar Allen Poe’s life, following Poe as he joins the hunt for a serial killer whose murders are inspired by his own stories. The film has been described as a cross between Edgar Allan Poe's classic short story/poem The Raven and David Fincher's Se7en. So we can expect it to be a dark, atmospheric film. McTeigue explained some of the plot in a interview saying,

There's basically a serial killer loose in 1850's Baltimore and he's using Poe's stories as his methodology, so then he leaves clues at each murder and says it's up to Poe to find him before he kills (again).... does one like The Murders in the Rue Morgue and The Pit and Pendulum and works through Poe’s stories in an increasingly gruesome way, whilst at same time kidnapping his fiancé... we have real elements from Poe’s life, in and out of the story. He was a troubled figure and that’s alluded to in the film. Ultimately he becomes one of the characters in his own story.

The film also stars Luke Evans as a young Baltimore detective helping Poe track down the insane serial killer. This film will be at the San Diego Comic-Con, with a panel taking place in Hall H on Friday, July 22 at 11:30am. Cusack, Evans, Alice Eve and McTeigue will all be there. This could end up being a gret movie.
