Adam McKay to direct Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in THREE MISSISSIPPI

Adam McKay is close to signing on to direct Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in Three Mississippi, previously known as Turkey Bowl. Vulture reports that the ensemble comedy was written by 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock and Friends executive producer Scott Silveri. The story follows "two neighboring families as they do battle in an annual Thanksgiving game of front-lawn tackle football that’s grown increasingly nasty over the years."

McKay is already set to produce the film, but stated in an earlier report that he was not planning on directing the film. It looks as though things have changed, and Mississippi has become McKay's next project and Warners plans to have it filmed to hit theaters next Thanksgiving. They had to change the name because Turkey Bowl is the name of the Kyle Smith indie comedy of the same name.

McKay worked with Ferrell and Wahlberg before on The Other Guys, which has a box office hit. This sounds even better to me than that film. One of the things that sets this film apart is the fact that there are not many films that take place during Thanksgiving. What are your thoughts on this news?
