Francis Ford Coppola coming to Comic-Con with his Horror Film TWIXT

The last time Francis Ford Coppola showed up at San Diego Comic-Con was way back in 1992 when he was promoting his film Bram Stoker's Dracula. He will be showing up again this year to introduce a new horror film he has been working on Twixt.

The legendary director/producer will be showing off clips from the film at the convention in Hall H on Saturday, July 23rd. The film stars Val Kilmer, Elle Fanning and Ben Chaplin, and according to the press release,

Coppola has a unique new approach to the presentation of the film that will incorporate live music by acclaimed independent performance artist Dan Deacon.  Deacon will attend Comic-Con with Coppola to help demonstrate the interactive experience of the film.

Twixt is an experimental film that he's developing that he describes as being “one part Gothic romance, one part personal film, and one part the kind of horror film that began my career." To get you an idea of what Coppola might be going for some of his early movies include Dementia 13 and The Terror.

Here's a synopsis for the film:

A  writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl.  That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V.  He’s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him.  Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated.

Very interesting. This should turn out to be a cool presentation. I'm looking forward to seeing what Coppola has come up with.
