It looks as though Michael Bay is planning on scaling back for his next project, Pain & Gain, which is said to be a dark comedy. MTV caught up with Bay at the Moscow premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The director revealed during the conversation that the budget is slated to be around $20 million.

“I’m still going to do it,” Bay said. “I’m going to do it next.”

Not much else is known about the film at this time. It is based on "a true story about abductions and extortion in the Florida criminal underworld." He revealed his interest in making a “Pulp Fiction-type of movie” and said it will not be in 3D. The plan was to initially film this before Transformers 2 and 3, but Paramount wanted to get Dark of the Moon out sooner. This project sounds like a definite change of pace for Bay.

During the interview, Bay said that Bad Boys 3 is still a possibility, as long as Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are available. “It’s hard to get our schedules together,” he says.

I really enjoyed Transformers: Dark of the Moon and agree that it is the best film in the franchise. I am interested to see a different type of film from Bay. What are your thoughts on this news?
