The Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling to get his own Biopic!
I don't care what anyone says, Rod Serling is a mad genius that changed the world of TV and film entertainment forever. He was truly a master storyteller, and what he did with The Twilight Zone was incredible. It is may favorite TV series of all time, and we can see the shows effect in the films, TV shows, comic books, and books throughout the years.
It looks like we are going to get a film that tells the story of the legend behind The Twilight Zone. According to Deadline, Andrew Meieran and his Bureau of Moving Pictures recently acquired rights to make a movie about Rod Serling, and I couldn't be happier. Wall Street screenwriter Stanley Weiser will script the movie, so it's good to know it has a solid screenwriter on board. Serling's widow Carol Serling will also be a producer on the film project.
I honestly don't know that much about Serling's life other than how creative and talented he was. Before he became a household name with The Twilight Zone he served in the military in World War II as a paratrooper, and was a member of the demolition squad. He was "stationed in the Philippines, he saw more than his share of death as the US battled the Japanese and his experiences would inform much of what he would write later." After The Twilight Zone he created another great series called Night Gallery. Serling also co-wrote the 1968 sci-fi classic Planet of the Apes with Michael Wilson. Serling was only 50 years old when he passed away, from complications stemming from chain-smoking cigarettes his entire adult life.
I couldn't be more excited to see this Rond Serling Biopic, he's definitely earned it.
